We're just a little bike shop on a little island. We live here and eat, sleep, breathe, think, dream, ride, fix and LOVE bikes.
It's not possible to sell the feeling of being out on a bike on a summer afternoon with the sun golden behind you and all the leaves lit up and rustling in the wind and you can't hear any cars, and there's no-one there but you, rushing through the woods like a deer on the run. We help to get people and their trusty steeds out there...
Our shop comes equipped with a fell bike wizard who can make anything with two wheels sing. Everyone who works here rides. We sell new and used bicycles. We have old parts, and used bikes, and boxes of stuff to dig through to find things to fix your bike. We have clothes and shoes and lots and lots of saddles. We hold forth on all things bicycle and love to meet all bike minded folk.
Help the fine folks in the Millennium Trail keep on doing such a terrific job. Just in the past 18 months the whole rail line from end to end has been wonderfully re-finished. The whole trail (except of .7km east of Station St.) is now a smooth, rolled stone dust surface. Enjoy! It is just wonderful!
Macaulay Mountain is a Conservation Area just outside of Picton on County Rd #8 (right beside Birdhouse City). It was once a ski hill with a tow-bar, but now is a headquarters for the local Air Cadets and a local gem of a trail system. There are approximately 25kms of twisty-turny trails open to any non-motorized user. Mountain bikers are welcome to use these trails: but keep your eyes and ears peeled for hikers, dog walkers and conservation summer camp groups as well.
There are no fees to ride at Macaulay Mountain; but there are fees to PARK at all Conservation Areas in the County. Visit Mackaypay.com and choose Macaulay Mountain as your "zone".
Trails are open AT YOUR OWN RISK from dawn to dusk.
The unique environment within Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area takes twenty-four hours to recover from rainfall: and as a result the trails are closed to mountainbikers within 24-hours of rain. Help preserve the integrity of the trails by allowing them to dry before riding.
Please feel free to download and print a copy of the Bloomfield Bicycle Club's Trail Map of Macaulay Mountain before you head out as well. The Conservation Authority has painted trees in colours to create "routes" and these are marked on the new map (above) and can really help you find your way around if you've never been there before.
The Bloomfield Bicycle Club rides three times a week at Macaulay: Sunday, Monday and Saturday afternoon. Check out the Club Rides for more details.
To get to Macaulay Mountain stay right at the east end of Main Street in Picton, go down the "town hill" and stay right at the bottom. Follow the road uphill and the driveway for the parking lot is on your right at the crest of the hill. You can also park at the Macaulay Museum parking lot and ride through Whattam's Memorial Walkway to get to the start of the trails.
