the Trail Maintenance the bloomfield bicycle co in 2003

Hauling the look-out that was pushed down the hill in 2000 back up to the top and rebuilding and re-erecting it was a major project that we visualized for this year: we already destroyed one 4,000 lb come-along trying to get the thing back up the hill. But we've realized that better ideas and engineering know-how are needed to retrieve this baby without dismantling it first. Matt Hedges (our best advocate and help at the hill, who we all love and miss every day since he left!) built it to last with 3" spiral galvanized nails - so taking it apart is going to be heinous in itself. AAARGH. A curse on the house of who ever pushed the bloody look-out off it's moorings and down the embankment in the first place. May a plane hit your house while you're at work! May you get flat tires every time you drive your car. May it rain on all your vacations for the rest of your life. May you get caught every time you do something stupid!

Pedro slings bridge base with a smile and some very cool sunnies!

Those of you who rode Bosco's Boneyard in the spring when it was really muddy will probably remember the small logs that were sort of impersonating a bridge across the creek near the entrance. Rick, Pedro, Art & Ryan, Lee & Lewis and Robert & Elliot undertook the task of builing a bridge over that creek in July. Matt, Steve, Erin, Susanne and Bay all took some turns working on the bridge itself at the shop and then the fateful day came! The boys loaded the bridge up into Art's truck, took some cinderblocks with the wheelbarrow and headed out to maintain that trail!

It was a fairly difficult section to create as they had to rebuild the earth on both sides of the proposed bridge section with gravel and cinderblocks. They was much digging, grunting, graveling and hauling. In the end they put the bridge into place and Elliot, Lewis and Ryan got to inagurate the bridgewith their bikes that very day! Way to go guys!
