PAUL'S was started as a memorial ride for an avid mountainbiker, by his cycling pals. Paul Rush loved the LONG RIDE, the HARD SLOG and the course (for the first few years) was designed to thrash it's victims. But over the years the full 100k has been re-worked, re-vamped and tried in a bunch of different ways and has evolved to its present, almost perfected form! Over this 100k there are more than 7000 feet of climbing, (and correspondingly the same amount of descending!!) through the different regions and environs of the Forest. Pine plantations, rolling hills, twisty-turney dark corners and roller-coaster fire roads. The fastest riders roll in just under six hours and the folks who are out for the fun of it can take up to ten hours. This route through the Forest is considered by many to be the finest Enduro in Ontario, a Canadian province almost three times the size of Texas. GPS information for the full 100k, [recorded and posted by a generous rider, Mark Linford] is available, as a public file, on the MotionBased Trail Network website. The 100k loop is rolling romp of a good time through fast, rolling and technical singletrack. It is a ONE LOOP lap that figure eights back through the Forest Center for re-supply and reconsideration. Many riders return from their journey feeling like they are at last returning to "the world" after an interlude in some parallel singletrack dimension. And that's only the ONE chosen loop! There's more up and down, twisting and turning and big grin producing trails than you can even imagine in the whole of "the Gan". The PAUL's 100k loop is roughly 75% singletrack, 20% double track, 5% gravel road. |
