There are so many different styles of bikes for rent to choose from: comfy hybrid bikes, beautiful tandem bikes, tough mountain bikes, kickin' double suspension bikes, zippy road bikes, laid-back recumbent bikes, fun trail-a-bikes, happy baby trailers, burly cargo trailers and kids bikes, too!

At the Bloomfield Bicycle Company you can also rent everything else bike-wise you might want for a County adventure: racks and panniers, spare parts and anything else you can imagine. Rental bikes themselves can be loaded with any number of extra rental accessories: mirrors, handlebar bags, rack trunks, bells, honka hooter horns, cycling computers, bar ends and more!

We rent pretty much any conceivable bike part or accessory. Forget your front wheel for the weekend? We can rent you one. Need lights for a last minute entry into a 24-hour race? We can rent you some. Trying a triathalon for the first time and want to see what those aerobars are like? We can rent you some. Wanna go touring with your friends for a few days, but don't have the gear? We rent racks, panniers, seat bags and more!

One thing we DO NOT RENT: car racks. We do deliver and pick-up rentals anywhere in Prince Edward County instead. Give us a call so we can make special arrangements for you. Call us with any special concerns you have,and we'd be happy to help! Heck, just call!

We custom fit every rental bike to its rider. We understand the importance of proper fit for both the happiness and efficiency of your bike riding. Not only do we adjust seat at the right height but we also are prepared to swap stems and saddles until you feel comfortable. Part of being comfortable is being confident that you know how all the gears and brakes and features of your rental bike work: so we spend some time going over all that before you roll away. We also install whatever style of pedals you need: flats, toe-clips or one of many varieties of clipless pedals.

Each rental bike is equipped with a water bottle cage. We provide a 21 ounce bottle, that's your to keep (unless you're only renting for a half day) filled with cool, clear, filtered water. We can always pop another bottle cage on if you need it, as well. Water is just as important as a functioning bike for an enjoyable day on your rental bike!

We'll go over your map with you before you take off on your adventure and highlight a good route so you won't get lost later. We're full of great local info as well, and part of our mission is to help folks plan a fabulously perfect, custom adventure. Would you like to see museums? Beaches? Vistas? Wineries? Primo restaurants? We've got all the local knowledge to help plan your perfect time.

We deliver and pick-up rental bikes anywhere within Prince Edward County (*except half days). Your bikes, helmets and any other gear you need will arrive and be fitted to you on the spot.

We provide a great retro emergency rescue vehicle. If you should have any troubles while you are out adventuring on your rented bicycle, or while you are on a Bloomfield Bicycle Company tour, or even just while you're in the County for a day of cycling: we're there for you. Just give us a call and we'll arrive where you are in a little while. We'll fix you on the spot if we can; and if not, we'll bring you back to the shop (or to your car, or campsite, or wherever your adventure is taking you next).

For folks renting bikes from us this service is free ... for folks who just need us there is a small (very small, tiny, even!) fee.

Don't worry if your cell phone isn't working ... the County is pretty friendly. Stop at the closest house and ask them if they would please give the bike shop a call (613-393-1060) and we'll be right along.

We accept cancellations up to 24 hours in advance with no penalty or charges. Cancellations made within 24 hours may be charged $15 administration fee for each bike.

If you make bike reservations and you do not arrive, nor do you call to cancel, we will hold the bikes for half a day ('cuz sometimes people are late) and then, if you still do not arrive, we will charge your credit card $25 for each bike reserved and release the bikes back to the rental fleet.

Reservations are not REQUIRED for rentals, but please be aware that we do run out of rental bikes on most long weekends and many weekends in July and August. Spur of the moment walk-ins are encouraged and heralded! If you have specific dates that you have your heart set on, or specific bikes that you really want, then we STRONGLY recommend that you make reservations early to avoid disappointment.

We are happy to take reservations for bike rentals as far in advance as you would like to make them. We require a credit card number to hold rental bike reservations. You may reserve bikes by telephone or by email. When you reserve bicycles you will need to impart to us the following information about EACH MEMBER of your cycling party.

Name something to identify each rider!
Sex male or female (makes a big difference in saddle choice)
Height physical height, good: with inseam, better. Measure from your crotch to the floor
Type (style) of Bicycle Mountainbike, Tandem, Recumbent, Road Bike, hybrid, trailer or a trail a bike
Helmet required? under 18?the law requires it. Macaulay Mountain requires them, otherwise ...
Type of Pedals? flat (regular), toe clips("rat traps"), SPD clipless, SPD-R clipless, Time clipless, LOOK clipless
Dates and Duration which days? what time? for how long?
Delivery or Pick-up? To where? and Where from? and What time?

... and from the person making the reservation we will also need the following information:

contact numbers: work or home, or your cell . Just somewhere we can get ahold of you later.

We use this for deposit only. We do not charge anything to the card until the day you have booked your rentals. Please see our cancellation policy below for occasions on which we WILL charge that card.

single bikes are recumbents but not tandems ...For our rental purposes a single bike is any bike that is not a tandem. That means hybrids, rigid mountainbikes, front suspended rigid mountainbikes, double suspension mountainbikes, front suspended softtail mountain bikes, cruisers, styly coaster bikes, folding bikes, zoomy road bikes, touring bikes, recumbents and any other wacky things we can find to rent out to happy cycling folk.

rental durations: At the BBC we rent bikes in half day increments.
A morning half day begins when we open and ends at 2pm.
An afternoon half day begins at 2pm and ends when we close at 7pm.
We do have some flexibility on this but arrangements must be made in advance.

A full day rental begins when we open and ends when we close: a full day rental is NOT 24 HOURS.

Deposits are required. Visa, AMEX & MC accepted.
